Meta Cell Technology, also called MCT, is an advanced system that conditions an autologous product such as platelet-rich plasma before treatment. The prepared PRP is exposed to controlled light and temperature through a process called photothermal biomodulation.

This additional step is designed to prime platelet performance, support growth-factor release and promote the availability of the patient’s own exosome-rich cellular signals.

Standard PRP involves collecting blood, separating the platelet-rich plasma and delivering it to the treatment area. MCT adds a controlled light-and-temperature conditioning step after the PRP has been prepared and before it is applied or injected.

MCT does not increase platelet concentration. The selected PRP or PRF system determines platelet composition and concentration. MCT is designed to influence how the prepared platelets release and communicate their regenerative signals.

MCT works with plasma prepared from the patient’s own blood. According to the manufacturer, photothermal biomodulation is designed to promote the release and availability of the patient’s own exosome-rich extracellular signals.

MCT does not add donor-derived, plant-derived or synthetic exosome products. It uses your own autologous preparation, making it fundamentally different from externally manufactured exosome treatments.

MCT may be incorporated into a personalized PRP or PRF hair-restoration plan for suitable patients with functioning hair follicles. Potential candidates include men and women with early-to-moderate thinning, pattern hair-loss concerns or medically assessed shedding.

PRP has broader clinical research supporting its use for selected forms of hair loss. Direct research proving that injected MCT-conditioned PRP produces superior hair growth compared with standard PRP is still emerging. Diagnosis, follicle viability, PRP quality and treatment consistency remain essential.

Eligible patients at LMC may receive a HairMetrix AI hair and scalp analysis so changes in density, follicular units and hair-shaft calibre can be measured over time.

MCT-conditioned PRP may be used in personalized treatment plans for fine lines, visible wrinkles, crepey under-eye skin, dullness, uneven texture, photoageing and reduced firmness. It may also be incorporated into selected acne-scar treatment plans.

Treatment areas may include the face, under-eye area, neck, décolleté, hands and clinician-selected scar areas.

A 2026 randomized split-face study found that MCT-conditioned PRP produced greater improvement than standard PRP in specific fine-line, fold and wrinkle measurements. Other measured skin characteristics improved similarly with both treatments.

Many MCT hair or skin plans begin with a series of approximately three treatments spaced four to six weeks apart. The exact number and timing depend on the concern, treatment area, baseline condition, selected PRP or PRF system and individual biological response.

Skin improvements develop gradually over several weeks as regenerative and collagen-remodelling processes progress. Hair-restoration changes generally take several months because hair grows in cycles. Maintenance treatments may be recommended to support results.

Individual outcomes and timelines vary, and no specific improvement can be guaranteed.

Comfort and downtime depend on the treatment area and delivery method. Fine-needle injections may cause temporary pinching, pressure or tenderness. Comfort options can be discussed before treatment when appropriate.

Most patients return to regular daily activities quickly. Temporary redness, swelling, tenderness, bruising or pinpoint injection marks may occur. More visible downtime may be expected when MCT is combined with microneedling or another skin procedure.
